02 June 2009

It occurs to me that making the nerdy lab guy into a villain-y person is become trendy. Huh.

First Bones did it (goddammit I miss Zach! Bring him back!!), and now L&O:SVU. Granted, the latter didn't really bother me. It made pretty decent television - plus I never liked the character. But, really? Why are the lab guys always psycho?

10 May 2009

What the...?

I just watched the latest Bones, and they made it a cliffhanger! Noooooooooo. I can't wait until this Thursday! ><;

04 May 2009

I hate sick. Sick is yucky and painful and blech.
Almost done, almost done. I just don't want to feel like crap for thesis presentations on Wednesday.
Soooooo annoying.
Plus, I don't have anything with menthol, which means that my throat hurts no matter what I do. And, I'm going through tissues like there's no tomorrow. Grrrr.

03 May 2009

Random stuff.

I've got an online friend with whom I'm very close. Unfortunately, school makes it extremely difficult for me to keep in contact with him. This happened with another friend of mine, and we barely ever talk. It sucks. That's one more good thing about graduating and not being swamped with homework.

Anyway, I'm a little bit in love with this friend of mine, and have been for months. I absolutely hate the internet for this reason. He's across the country, in addition to being two and a half years younger than I, and we both have our own lives. But, that's not entirely the point. The point is, he lets people walk all over him, and it annoys the hell out of me.

Recently, he's had several bad relationships. Something goes wrong, and things fall apart. With this new girl, however, he keeps going back to her - despite the fact that they've broken up at least three times now, and she says things to him such as:
"Our relationship failed, like all of your other relationships, because you won't grow up and take things seriously." (Note that this is paraphrased, but I got it straight from the horse's mouth/computer via comments on a journal.)

I just don't understand it. She treats him terribly, from what I can tell and have heard, and yet he still goes back to her. Not only that, but it's limiting the conversations we do manage to have, because she's too worried about him maybe flirting with someone else. Sure, I can understand asking him to not flirt with other people, but getting him to stop talking to them? I don't like it.

Plus, I hate being jealous. That's never fun, either.

Oh god. There's so much. So fucking much. And this is just the big stuff. This doesn't count the standard homework that I've still got to do.

30 April 2009

So I've finally gotten to the part of Bones that includes the character "Roxy." I am so freaking pissed off. This is exactly what pissed me off regarding Willow and Tara - two people break up for no real reason, other than the producers want some random, forced lesbian action.
Why can't they ever have main characters start off in a lesbian relationship? At least they admit that Angela's bisexual, as opposed to BtVS saying that Willow "turned" gay.

It just annoys the hell out of me. And Angela and Hodgins were so good for each other; just at the end of the last season, he learned what she needed from him. It was her stupidity and impulsiveness that ruined their relationship; you'd think she'd remember that she was still married - especially because the FBI internal interviewer brought it up. Seriously? It's stupid.

And I miss Zack. That was a poor, poor decision (yet a decent plot twist). I'm hopeful that he'll be back, since his hands are (when he shows up in s4) up to 60%, which suggests that he's healing well, and he admitted to not really being a killer, and Sweets also explained that Zack can't get out of the institution until he "admits his delusion" - suggesting that, if he 'surpasses his delusions' he will be released. So, perhaps the producers will decide to write him back in permanently. They've left it as a possibility.

In any case, I'm just so sick and tired of the "let's ruin a perfectly good relationship for no reason at all so that we can open up to a wider audience and/or show off some hot chicks kissing." If they wanted the lesbian relationship for the sake of a lesbian character, then they would have had that happen initially. No, they did what shows always do: bring in the male-fantasy when they want to spice things up.

23 April 2009

Still to do before grades are due:

-Edit Greek Paper.
--Try to not be too annoyed at professor's stupid comments. Just do them.

-Write other research paper, for L.O.

-Start packing up things for move-out.

-Do standard week-to-week homework before Saturday.
--Folks are coming in. Possibly send them home with some things that I don't need any more, so that there's less for me to pack up at the end.

-Anything else?

OMG CRAZY ADVENTURE

....at Target.

My friend/suitemate just came in and told me I should write about it. We're gonna go out in a bit.

And she says that she probably shouldn't strip in the hallway. I'm not so sure.

Now getting ready to make an entry that's my to-do-list.

He ended up emailing the paper to me. Man, he's a fucking stickler for stupid things. Ugh. I hate it.
If I had to do it all over again, I would NOT take this class. I was hoping for more Greek mythology in the mix, but it's more specifics and...erg, I don't even know. It just makes me angry. I hate that class so much. And, while my prof seems like he might be a neat, interesting person outside of class, he is a TERRIBLE professor. Terrible!

No wonder the only comments you ever hear about him on campus is that he's good looking.

My professor said he'd have my paper (with comments) for me, outside of his office, by Wednesday. It's Thursday, and it's not there. Oooookay.

17 April 2009

Hooooomygod. So good. Sooooo gooooood.

The Underworld prequel, Underworld: Rise of the Lycans is amazing. Completely perfect. There wasn't a single thing I would change about it. It had the same actors, the proper storyline, and was wonderful. I love it. So much.

I just finished watching it, and I'm a little shaky from happy-movie-ness. (Not that the movie was happy, because it's really quite sad.) Absolutely fabulous. 10/10, definitely.

I'm getting it on DVD as soon as it comes out. <3

16 April 2009

One more down!

I've finished my Greek paper. Now I just have to do the rest of everything. But I'm getting closer. <3

14 April 2009

Yech. I want to keel over and have someone chop my head off. That would hurt less. D:

Thesis countdown: 10 days

Still to do:
Read conclusion to sister by Wednesday for help (will probably do this Tuesday)

Ugh. Massive 2+ day headache and cramps equals I want to die now.

Thesis countdown: 11 days

Still to do:
Finish writing conclusion.
--Read conclusion to sister by Wednesday for help.
Finish edits.
Make sure profs are happy with it.
Print and bind three(?) copies.
--find out how many copies are needed.

Not for thesis:
Greek Civ paper. Must finish outlining, then write. Also due on the 24th.
Life Online research project/paper. Must finish getting information, start compiling into paper outline.

12 April 2009

I baked tonight.

I love baking. I really, really do. Tonight, I made what my friends fondly dubbed the "Chocolate Orgasm Cake" when I made it last year. Haven't eaten any yet, since I want to wait until we can all get together and have some, but I'm excited. <3

11 April 2009

My new ankle brace is both good and bad. It provides good support and feels fine when I'm walking or standing. When I'm sitting and off it, however, my foot hurts. And when I first take it off, my foot hurts, as well. I don't know if it's that I'm realigning my foot to the way it needs to be, or if it's something else. Either way, it's annoying.

08 April 2009

More down, more to go.

So I sent in my latest chapter to my professor. I'm getting there! I will graduate! Yes!

My sister totally rocks, btw. She gives me deadlines for when I have to read my new work to her. :) That means I get it done, get it fixed, and get it sent to my professor all in good time. <3

06 April 2009

I've been sleeping terribly lately.

I don't know why, but I toss and turn, have horrid dreams, and (like now) wake up in the middle of the night and can't fall back asleep. I hate it. It happened occasionally several years ago, but I figured I was done. D: LET ME SLEEP, body. I need to.

04 April 2009

I keep thinking my ankle's all better

...but then it starts hurting again. I'm off the crutches now (THANK GOODNESS) and even went a day without my bandage. It seemed mostly fine, though I still limped a bit. But every now and then it just really freaking hurts. I am so annoyed at it, it's not even funny. Why won't the damn thing just heal and get it over with? Grrrrrrrrr.

03 April 2009

Sent in my Xena chapter to my professor last night. That means I just have one more (shorter) chapter, the conclusion, and editing to do before the 24th. Considering how much I had to do just two weeks ago, this is nothing.

Except for the fact that I have two other major papers to write for other classes...Grrr.

30 March 2009

I hate partners who don't do the work.

Ugh. I facilitated a discussion today. My partner was supposed to help. She barely did, and it seemed like she didn't do the work at all. I just wanted to throttle her and say, "what makes you think this is okay?"
And, to top it off, the prof wasn't there. I feel bad for her, because she has a pinched nerve, but she didn't get to see how useless my partner was. D:

27 March 2009

I really want to apply to (and get in to!) a top-tier law school. Sure, it may not happen, but I can dream.
Before, I was just terrified of applying and not getting in anywhere. Yeah, I'm taking a year off to intern and work, but that doesn't necessarily boost my chances enough.

Now, though, I scared shitless of the prices. Most of them are more expensive than my undergrad, and that's eaten through my pocket (and arms and legs). Oh. God. I am never going to pay off all of my loans, am I? Shitshitshit.

26 March 2009

Now that I'm older, I realize why I hate the Xena finale so much.

It is the biggest piece of shit I've ever seen. I just finished going through the series so that I can write the Xena chapter of my thesis, and I am so completely disgusted with the finale. It is vile.

Xena betrays herself, her mission, and Gabrielle with her self-sacrificing bull shit. Yeah, 40K souls will be lost because they died in a fire Xena caused while trying to do something good. WTF? Were they really that dumb and slow-moving? They clearly were morons, so why should Xena have to die for them? Better yet - even though she does die for them, why the fuck does she have to stay dead? She's released their damn souls, she should be able to be happy with Gabrielle.

ARGH.

Okay, hopefully my anger will be more settled by the time I write about this. Because I am really, really going to tear this apart.

24 March 2009

Dere is Ze Good News and Ze Bad News

Good news:
My professor loved my chapter. She and I are going to talk tomorrow at around two o'clock. Hopefully there won't need to be many changes made.

Bad news:
(Firstly, I am okay!) I sprained my ankle on the way home from work today. I was so mad at myself, because I literally tripped on nothing! I made an appointment for Student Health at 2:45 (they didn't see me until just after 3), got poked and prodded for a bit. The doc suggested I get an x-ray, since I fit two or three out of three criteria (can't put much [or any] weight on it, pain in a specific area, and I don't remember the third). Luckily, she didn't see any fractures. So, she sent them to radiology, and if they find something she didn't, they'll let me know. Other than that, I'm bandaged up and gimping my way around with crutches.

I remember crutches being fun in the second grade, when I broke my leg. When did they get so annoying?!

22 March 2009

Oy vey.

I think I might be sludge right about now. I finished the chapter on Buffy about an hour and a half ago, then read it aloud to my sister so that we could both listen for things that needed to be changed, and emailed it to my professor.

My throat hurts. xD

It's 21 pages, plus 2 pages of images. Holy crap, I'm happy to have it done. At least the first draft, anyway. Now I just have to write the other 2 chapters and the conclusion. And my other classwork. I can do it.

I hope.

(I'm the kid. xD)

19 March 2009

So, I'm re-watching Xena: WP for my thesis...

...and I just finished season five.
(There are spoilers here, so be wary.)
.
.
.
.
.
.
I think I must be a sucker for reformed bad guys/gals. Errr...people. Spike and Faith from Buffy, Ares and Callisto from Xena and, come to think of it, Xena herself. I just love them. Sometimes (often, I suppose), I love these characters even when they're still evil.

So, anyway, S5 is the one in which Xena's daughter, Eve, brings about the "Twilight" - the end of the reign of the Olympian gods. The gods all want Eve dead so that they can stop the Twilight, and Xena has to protect her (as a baby and as an adult). Ares offers Xena and Eve his protection if Xena will be his wife (in a manner of speaking) and give him a child. Xena declines, and Ares does the selfish angry god bit, turning on her.

Since studying Homer, I have a bit more appreciation for the gods, as they really were just children with a lot of powers. Ares didn't know how to deal with Xena. He even admits it when he thinks she's dead, but he loves her in the only way he knows how.

Okay, so skip forward a bit: Xena has been bestowed with the ability to kill gods as long as Eve is alive, and has since bumped most of the gods (Hercules killed Zeus, and Zeus killed Hera, so they were already out of the picture, and Aphrodite doesn't want to hurt anyone, so leaves). The only ones left are Ares and Athena. Gabrielle and Eve are severely injured, and Xena stabs Athena, only to find out that she lost the ability to kill gods.

What does that mean? Yep, Eve's dead.

We see Ares laying over the bodies of Eve and Gabrielle, clearly healing them - something that he should not be able to do without Athena's blessing (which she, of course, does not give). Xena stabs Athena again, Athena is shocked, looks at Ares, and wonders what the fuck happened. Turns out he gave up his immortality to save Gabrielle and Eve.

Now, for someone as selfish and self-adoring as Ares, I've got to say that this is the ultimate show of love. He knows by this point that he won't get Xena. She just doesn't love him, and her ways are no longer his. Yet, he still heals the one person who can bring about the death of the (few) remaining members of his family. He does it for Xena. It has nothing to do with helping bring about the Twilight, or he wouldn't have healed Gabrielle, too. No, he truly loves her.

The beautiful thing is, you can see in Xena's eyes when she thanks him that she knows how much he loves her. She also understands that this is the first selfless act he has ever committed, and it was for her.

Gotta say, it made me teary. That, and I wish Kevin Smith wasn't dead. (That's Ares, btw, not Silent Bob. Different people, same name.) Doubly sad.

-

Now, none of that had anything to do with my thesis. Especially since I still have to finish up the Buffy chapter. (It's around half done.) But, still. I specifically chose shows/movies I love.

Buffy - my favorite television show, ever, hands down.

Xena
- a joy of lame storylines and good acting (bad acting from some of the minor characters, though) from my childhood.

The Long Kiss Goodnight - one of my top ten favorite movies.

Gee, and I wonder why I love my major. Hehe!

It is a bit saddening, however, to analyse the anti-feminist aspects of my favorite feminist-y media. Still, it doesn't make me dislike them, just shake my head a bit.

18 March 2009

Woohoo, I just sent ten pages to my professor. Let's hope she likes them.

16 March 2009

Thesis and Buffy and Eliza, oh my!

The thesis chapter I'm currently working on is an analysis of the show Buffy the Vampire Slayer. I love that show so much, and writing about it (and having to watch chunks of episodes) really makes me miss it. I never got into the comics, mostly because I loved the actors, and it just wasn't the same.
At least thesis is chugging along. I've got to email my professor some pages on Wednesday, so I'm cranking them out.

Speaking of Whedon shows - I love Dollhouse. I mean, I'm practically in love with Eliza Dushku anyway, and I don't think I've disliked anything Whedon I've ever seen. It's a good combo, and I can't wait to see where it goes. I remember, though, why I hate watching shows while they're still in-season. I'm too impatient to just wait a week for another episode. It's too long!

13 March 2009

Good news: my professor liked my thesis intro (finally).

Bad news: I have only 6 weeks (give or take a few) to finish the entire thing. In addition to papers and projects for other classes. Yay.

So let's get this crap done!

*

*this is not mine, but it fits my mood. xD

07 March 2009

Ahhhhhhhh. Got my thesis intro finished and emailed to my reader. Hopefully she won't tear it apart too much.

Because, really, I'm running out of time to keep starting over again and again. D:

06 March 2009

I love my sister. She called me about an hour and a half ago (or rather, left a message via voicemail without calling). She looked at my previous post, and wanted to let me vent.
God, I'm lucky. I don't know of very many, if any, people who have families as wonderful as mine is.

In any case: I've since read through two of the books I got from the library today. I got three, but one of them turned out to be no use.
The are littered with post-its. It's ridiculous. There's probably an average of 3 post-its a page. Considering I didn't have to use every page (there were some sections that didn't connect to my work), that's a helluva lot.

Huh. My spell-check says that "helluva" is a word. Who knew.

05 March 2009

I fail at Thesis

I really just do. No matter how much work I put in, my professor essentially starts me back at the beginning.

I'm never going to graduate. Fuck. Fuck fuckity fuck.

04 March 2009

Urg. Insomnia sucks. I spent two hours last night tossing and turning, trying to sleep, and just couldn't. I finally gave up, watched some episodes of Xena, and then went to sleep at 6. In the morning.

Not okay, when I want to sleep earlier.

In other news, I have to meet with my professor about thesis. Woo. Not fun, because thesis is, again-still-and-yet, terrifying.

01 March 2009

Cupid, I love you

So, Guy2 is amazing. We may be going on a double date with my friend and her boyfriend this Friday, if all goes well.

Why is it that the internet just seems to work so well for me? Not that I'm complaining, mind you. :D

28 February 2009

Oh my, Cupid!!

So, I have set up a tentative "date" (which is more of a getting together with a bunch of my friends for a movie, and I invited a guy from OKC) for next Saturday, and I have since been favorited by two other guys.
I looked over their profiles, and one of them is amazing, and sounds just like my type. So....I don't know.
I'll try to keep things friendly with Guy1, see how things go, but I really don't want there to be any expectations.
As for Guys 2 & 3...well, who knows.

Well, at least life is interesting.

Please. We already have compulsory water cuts in my home town.
Sometimes, I wonder what's going through Schwarzenegger's head.
Usually, my mind makes it into something like this:

I used stripgenerator to make this.

26 February 2009

Ok, Cupid?

So, I've joined OkCupid, a networking/dating site. It's bizarre, and I'm not sure how I feel about it yet.
I joined because a friend of mine was talking about it, and it sounded interesting. It is interesting, but I don't know if it's a good interesting or a bad interesting.

Within ten minutes of registering and filling out my profile, I was propositioned by a 30 year old man. A few minutes later, by a 27 year old woman looking for a threesome with her 28 year old boyfriend. Interesting, indeed.

23 February 2009

Dollies

Got two porcelain dolls in the mail today. (I collect them.) One is a Chinese girl in a sitting position. She's the first porcelain doll I've ever had that isn't white. She's so beautiful.
The other one is a ballerina. Pretty standard general appearance, curly blonde hair, blue eyes. She's very pretty, and seems well made, though.

I haven't gotten new dolls for my collection in a while. It was exciting.

Miss Edith might be jealous.

...And kudos if you get the reference.

22 February 2009

Urg. I get headaches way, way, way too often.

21 February 2009

Thesis update

Okay, so I've done a bunch of new reading. Outlined the general look of my thesis, now that I've had to change everything.

Tonight, I'm writing the introduction. It's unfortunately short. Boo. Everything else will have to be really long to make this work.

Why, oh why, Professor, couldn't you have told me last semester?!

20 February 2009

Pink

Crappy color. Great artist.

My sister's been humming a Pink song for a bit, so I decided to put on a few of her discs. Love it.

15 February 2009

For Dearie and Poppa, a belated Valentine dedication

I sang this song to my grandparents several years ago. It was 'their' song.
I've been missing them a lot lately, since they've now both passed.

"My Funny Valentine" from Babes in Arms by Rogers and Hart

Behold the way our fine feathered friend,
His virtue doth parade
Thou knowest not, my dim-witted friend
The picture thou hast made
Thy vacant brow, and thy tousled hair
Conceal thy good intent
Thou noble upright truthful sincere,
And slightly dopey gent

You're my funny valentine,
Sweet comic valentine,
You make me smile with my heart
Your looks are laughable, unphotographable
Yet, you're my favorite work of art

Is your figure less than Greek?
Is your mouth a little weak?
When you open it to speak, are you smart?
But, don't change a hair for me
Not if you care for me
Stay little valentine, stay!
Each day is valentines day

Nine-year-olds dating? Writing about it?

What?

When I was nine, boys still had cooties. Now kids are "dating" at that age? No way.

Even the kid-writer himself says that he's too young to be dating. So why are grown men listening to his dating advice?

The Crow, 1994

Just watched it again for the first time in a few years. Such a good movie. It really is beautiful, despite - or perhaps because of - all of the death and bloodshed. In a twisted way, the deaths caused by Eric Draven have meaning, more thank just the standard vengeance murder.

To me, it is an incredibly powerful film. I love it. It always makes me incredibly sad, though, because I really liked Brandon Lee.

To end with the ending quote from the film: "Buildings burn, people die, but real love is forever."

05 February 2009

Ayaan Hirsi Ali

I understand that she's controversial. I understand that she talks about a controversial subject.

But, just the fact that she has an official death threat over her head, merely for speaking about her experiences, says quite a lot about the extremists against whom she speaks.

Here in the US, we have a very different lifestyle than in the Middle East and Africa. Even a Muslim woman here cannot necessarily comprehend the experiences of a Muslim woman in the Middle East.

If you want to be angry at Ali for speaking "for all Muslim women," then don't try to speak "for all Muslim women" yourself. It's hypocritical and ridiculous.

Also, if you want to be taken seriously, calm down a bit. Angry rants in an academic setting against someone who is being relatively calm while debating with you don't make you seem credible. They make you seem emotional, which is fine in other settings. In a formal question/answer (or, in this case, debate[question]/rebuttal[answer]) forum, it is inappropriate to be so emotional that you are incredibly disrespectful and rude to the guest speaker.

Maybe I would have listened more closely to their opinions if they appeared to be based more on fact than on emotion. Maybe, if Ali had been yelling passionately, I wouldn't have taken what she said seriously.

In any case, Ali was not talking about all Muslims, nor was she condemning Islam as a whole. She wasn't talking about Islam in the US - the experiences of the women who disagreed so passionately with her at her lecture. No, she spoke of experiences under radical Islamic rule, where women are not heard, and are kept out of sight. She spoke of her own experiences, which cannot be refuted. They don't belong to anyone but Ali, and she can speak of them how she wishes. If you try to silence her, you have no right to talk, yourself.

Next time, also don't mutter "fuck you, fuck you" while she's speaking. It's rude.

If you're selling something online, and the person who purchases it pays for rush shipping, you don't wait a week to send it out. You also don't ship it standard shipping.
I am really annoyed at the bookseller right now.

Thesis woes.

Urg, Blogger, why must you insist on logging me out and asking me to log in with my Gmail account?
It's annoying.

In any case, I am frustrated, yet relieved. I have to, essentially, start over on my thesis (changing topic, scrapping most of my work from last semester), but I now have a better idea of what I'm doing.
Granted, I am peeved that my professors couldn't have brought all of the issues to my attention four months ago. Thank you, thank you. Or not.

04 February 2009

Welcome, my clearly human President

I want to start off by saying that I adore President Obama.

Frankly, I greatly respect him for all of the hard work he's putting into making sure things aren't screwy. No double standards for the people in power. We are all US citizens, and Obama gets that. It's wonderful. I am quite happy that he acts like a normal person, and takes responsibility when he messes up.

I, however, don't think he messed up. Yeah, he should have done some more background checks into his Cabinet members, but it hasn't caused any problems, and he doesn't condone the tax evasion on the part of Daschle nor Killefer. Things didn't get out of hand. There were no detrimental issues caused by the fact that these two people were being considered for Cabinet.

I think what I love most about Obama, especially in light of this situation, is his ability to seem incredibly down-to-earth. According to BBC News, Obama said "I think I screwed up. And, you know, I take responsibility for it and we're going to make sure we fix it so it doesn't happen again."

He doesn't merely say "Yeah I made a mistake," just to make people happy and then brush it off.

It's incredibly important to look at exactly how he talks about this issue. He thinks he screwed up. This shows a sort of humility - he isn't trying to jerk us around, isn't trying to use his position to treat the situation as something unimportant.

I am hesitant to say that this phrasing is slightly insecure, as that makes him seem 'weak' (which I also think is stupid - people need to be able to have some sort of fallibility, or we'll end up with another President Bush, Sent From God). However, this phrasing does say to me that he realizes he isn't the Alpha and the Omega. He realizes that he is just a man, and can screw up unintentionally without having to be brassed off about it.

I'm sure part of this is my bias, since I really do like the man, but he really is turning out to be as good a guy as he presented himself during the campaign. I, for one, am impressed.

In other news, let's not tell the world that we only care about ourselves. Another good show for Obama. I approve.

I am terrified of writing my thesis. Very, very terrified.
Why do I have to write one? Because my school is anal like that.
Can't I get my BA without it? Nope.
Now I really need to force myself to continue working on it. ><;

Of course they don't have the one book I need for a class at the bookstore.
Of course neither Borders nor Barnes and Noble has it either.

Dammit.

I find that I am still bitter and angry at someone who hurt me a great deal in the past, called L. My friends are still her friends, and we do run into each other every now and again. I just can't quite seem to get rid of the grudge I'm holding against her, possibly because she doesn't even realize that she did anything wrong.

Frankly, I will be very happy when I no longer have to see her, ever.

But then I feel guilty, because sometimes I don't think about what I'm saying when I'm around our mutual friends. So, my feelings about her slip, and I say something really mean. A friend just called me on it, and asked me to not be so openly hateful. I just can't help it sometimes, because it comes out before I can censor myself.

I just want to curl up in a ball and cry, and I'm not sure if it's entirely about this, or if I need to up my dosage of anti-depressants. And I'm angry that I feel bad about it, too, because L deserves none of my sympathies.

I wish I could afford to see a shrink for a bit, because I really just want my issues with L to go away. I'm more than ready to move on, but I can't. I've got this burning hatred just sitting inside of me, with nothing to do, and there's not a whole lot I can think of to get rid of it.

I am bored out of my mind. I know I could do work, but I'm really not in the mood for it. Unfortunately, I'm not in the mood for fun, either.
I'm half tempted to start working on a comic strip that's been in the planning for a while now, dealing with the joys of Uni life, and the stupidity of administration.
Then again, I've so many other projects muddling around my brain that it might not be a good idea to actively start another one. ._.

Boo, hiss.

And, I've got "Shine On You Crazy Diamond" by Pink Floyd stuck in my head. Not a bad thing, but the chorus just keeps repeating and repeating over again in my mind.

I desperately need a life.

Why is this deemed "news worthy"?

27 January 2009

Yes, I know it's the xth post today.

Women + hormones +stress + depression + close living quarters = unmixy things.

You'd think someone would have learned this and fixed our programming by now. Because, frankly, when nobody's right in a situation like this, it sucks. For everyone concerned, including onlookers.
I feel bad for my friends, who were basically arguing over nothing, and for no reason at all other than that they are both under a lot of stress currently.

Hence, my petition to any deity, or a super-sciencey person, or whatever:

We the undersigned say that you need to get your shit together and fix things, okay? As in now. Or maybe yesterday.
Sincerely,
ALQ

Complaints

I don't get it. Why do people need to have lights on when they're not in the room? I mean, seriously people? It's a waste. If it's bright out and one wall is almost entirely glass, you don't need the lights on. Even if you are in the room.
I feel like I'm constantly turning lights off, which is ridiculous, because I'm not the maid, and I'm not the housekeeper. Get your shit together, okay?

In other news, I am sad because my soft-serve was yucky. I think something in the mix was off, very likely the milk/cream/whatever they use, because it tasted tangy. Vanilla is not supposed to be tangy.

I think I'm getting into this useless blog posting thing. Expect more soon. xD

Check ya,
ALQ

Woo, template

Okay, so I found a template that I liked, and just spent the last...I dunno, thirty minutes editing the colors to my liking.
There's a whole lot of crappy templates out there, by the way. I'm half tempted to make my own, but I don't really want to spend the time on it.
Oh well.
In any case, I'm just glad I have one other than the standard ones.

I haven't kept a regular blog in forever. The last time I really posted in one, even on a semi-regular basis, was four or five years ago. My life is far too boring.

Just means that I'll have to make up stories about my super-heroic exploits. (Did I mention that I'm Jean Grey? No? Oh, well then. I'm not. Much, much cooler than she was.)

Then ciao for the moment,
ALQ

I find that I don't like any of the setups for this blog. What to do, what to do.
I think I'll have a search around in the hope that someone's designed something I do like. Here's to hoping, right?
I shall be back to post again soon.

Oooo, and all three lines start with "I."

I am so self important! D:
